Tobacco is a risk factor for non-communicable diseases like cardiac, and cancer, but also many communicable diseases like Tuberculosis (TB). In the world, five countries (China, India, Brazil,USA and Turkey) producing 2/3rd of world tobacco. Tobacco kills more than 8 million people each year. More than 7 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while around 1.2 million are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.

This lesson covers about public health problem of tobacco, measures taken to control the demand, and the addictive property of tobacco. It ends with the Quiz 1.
