- Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with a focus on change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. (Miller & Rollnick, 2013,) (Douaihy et al., 2014, #) . In the latest edition, Profe Miller and Rollineck has defined MI as “MI is a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment. (Miller & Rollnick, 2023, #) This is a person-centered, empathetic communication approach that aims to resolve “ambivalence” A person with addiction may want to change their behavior but simultaneously feel unable or unwilling to make these changes. MI recognizes this complexity, using conversation techniques such as reflective listening, summarizing, and eliciting change talk to bring clarity, self-empowerment, and movement toward positive behavioral changes.
Goals:
- Recognize the motivation stage of the client/patient/person..

- Practice reflective listening and fostering collaboration.
- Learn how to apply MI techniques to resolve ambivalence and enhance motivation for change.

2. Where do the course fees go?
It is deposited in the Project account of Virtual Knowledge Network under Director, NIMHANS is a central government institution, MOHFW India. Fees used to purchase the secured software. This amount will be utilized for developing content, learning materials, assignments, use of technology etc.
3. I am not working in the clinical side, how can I take cases/ send monthly report.?
We request you to assess any substance related cases from the community or workplace, because case discussion is the heart of VKN tele-ECHO program
4. What if I missed the assignment?
Kindly note that, One extra attempts are allowed only for those who has taken the first attempt. 48hrs is the time frame and >75% score is needed to qualify.
5. What if I did not clear/pass the assignment?
You can continue to discuss the cases in tele-ECHO consultation session, part of this peer led learning and receive all the materials from elearn.vknnimhans.in as defined but there is NO Certificate of Course Completion .
6. Should i keep my Video ON during live session?
Yes. Minimum 60 minutes (per live session) of live video presence is mandatory for Certificate accreditation
7. Can I join the Thursday live session anytime?
No. The session starts at 02:30PM and will be locked at 02.45PM.
