- Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with a focus on change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. (Miller & Rollnick, 2013,) (Douaihy et al., 2014, ). In the latest edition of their work, Profe Miller and Rollineck has defined MI as “MI is a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment.
